Sandspit Residential Garbage Collection
UPDATE: The transfer station will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026. We do ask that if you are able to take materials to the transfer station yourself, that you please do so. Those with transportation challenges that are unable to get to the transfer station, please take materials to the Sandspit Community Hall as instructed below. Materials are not to be dumped at the Community Hall, rather should be provided to our Public Works staff during the allotted time of 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Materials will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
The North Coast Regional District (NCRD) acknowledges that, due to recent inclement weather, residential garbage collection in Sandspit has not been completed for the past several weeks. We recognize that this disruption may have caused inconvenience for residents, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
To assist households during this period, the NCRD will be offering a one-time, free drop-off opportunity:
Location: Sandspit Community Hall
Date: Saturday, January 10, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Residents may bring up to two (2) bags of household garbage, which can be provided directly to an NCRD Public Works employee on site. The collected materials will be transported to the Sandspit Transfer Station for disposal at no cost to residents.
If you are able to safely store your garbage and wait until regular residential collection resumes next Tuesday, we encourage you to do so. Please note that no bag tags will be required for additional garbage that has accumulated as a result of the missed collections.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding as we work through weather-related service challenges. If you have questions, please contact the NCRD office.
