Advisory Planning Commissions
A Board of Directors may establish, through bylaw, an Advisory Planning Commission (APC) for one or more Electoral Areas with at least 2/3’s of the members of the APC being members of that Electoral Area. The APC acts in an advisory capacity on all matters referred to it by the Board of Directors respecting land use bylaws, permits and official community plans.
The NCRD has two sub-regional APCs, created through bylaw, which provide planning advice to the Board through staff and the area's Director:
Moresby Island Advisory Planning Commission
Graham Island Advisory Planning Commission
To provide APC members context for their role within the broader scope of planning and land use management, and to identify roles and responsibilities, the NCRD has developed an APC Guide 101.
Note: The NCRD is currently seeking volunteers to sit on the APC for Moresby Island and Graham Island. If you are interested in the opportunity, please e-mail info@ncrdbc.com for more information.
