Welcome to the North Coast Regional District!

Our new website provides an information portal to the local government services that are provided to the 19,000 residents that live within the 19,716 km2 of land that stretches from the mouth of the Skeena River on the North Coast mainland across the Hecate Strait to the rainforests of Haida Gwaii.

In many ways the regional district is a bridge between Island communities, many of them rural and remote, all requiring core services from clean drinking water to solid waste disposal.

We are confident this on-line extension of our office will provide local residents with access to a range of material from monthly Board meeting agendas, minutes and bylaws to helpful direction on rural planning and zoning. Visitors will find a convenient one-stop resource for planning trips to the area’s museums, world-class parks and heritage sites. Similarly, investors will find links to all of the region’s economic development engines.

In terms of opportunity in the region, there is much to crow about. The North Coast is the location for the continent’s newest container port that moves commercial products between Asia and North America, markets for wind and tidal power generation, aquaculture and wood product development,  a burgeoning eco-tourism industry, and an emerging liquefied natural gas market.

I invite you to take some time to follow the links and explore the services, amenities and opportunities available within our region.

With warm regards,
