NCRD COVID-19 RESPONSE - RESTART PLAN
As the province begins its Restart Plan, we are working to evaluate what this means to the North Coast Regional District. Our goal is to ensure the greatest possible protection for citizens’ and employees’ individual health and the stability and economic well-being of businesses and the community during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The NCRD Regional Recycling Facility is now open with modified procedure for drop off of materials, including observing occupancy limits, maintaining social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols.
The NCRD administration office will reopen on Monday, May 25th to regular business hours with modified procedures including maintaining social distancing, enhanced cleaning protocols and design barriers.
The Island Solid Waste landfill is available for material drop off, with access to the site being regulated.
Island Solid Waste is currently working on reintroduction of recycling services on the island, PPE has been ordered and is awaiting arrival on island. Modified recycling services anticipated to return in June 2020.
Haida Gwaii Recreation remains closed at this time. We are awaiting ‘best practices’ and guidelines for the recreation sector to be provided to the NCRD through the Province. Once received, we will be working on a plan to safely reintroduce recreation services on the island in some modified capacity.
