NCRD COVID-19 RESPONSE - UPDATE
The North Coast Regional District (NCRD) is engaged in planning activities to be proactive in minimizing the public health and safety risk in our communities, as well as managing and mitigating any potential COVID-19 impacts to our facilities, operations and delivery of essential services.
The safety and well-being of our communities and staff is of utmost importance to the NCRD. The NCRD is mandated to take its direction from the Province of B.C. and the Provincial Health Officer in remaining vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In brief, the Province of B.C. is coordinating the response specific to supply chain, protecting consumers, enforcement, travel, protecting vulnerable populations, and emergency response coordination.
The Province has also directed the NCRD to activate its emergency planning. The NCRD would like to sincerely thank its community members for remaining vigilant by adhering to the Provincial Health Officer’s orders and recommendations in the interest of protecting our health and the health of our loved ones. We wish to acknowledge the tremendous work of essential service providers in our communities that continue to provide the goods and services our community relies upon. The NCRD also wishes to remind community members that misinformation and rumours are not only irresponsible, but reckless and do nothing more than to drive fear and anxiety in the community. We are working closely with health authorities and provincial ministries to ensure that our communities are protected. Should the level of risk to the community change, the NCRD Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will provide notice to its residents.
We must remember to follow the health recommendations around social distancing, hand hygiene, limiting non-essential activities and travel outside of the house and community, and self-isolating in the event you are feeling any symptoms. We must continue to be strong, supportive and respectful of each other so we can remain a healthy and vibrant community. During this time, the NCRD remains at your service. We do ask that residents follow the advice of our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, to be kind, be calm and be safe. Staff will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, undertake proactive measures, and continue to liaise with other agencies, organizations, and communities to protect our communities.
