Electoral Area D Civic Addresses

May 29, 2025

NCRD staff; with assistance from the Tow Hill Community Association; Tlell Volunteer Fire Department, Richardson Ranch and many helpful community members, have distributed nearly half of the civic address signs for driveways in order to support timely emergency response in Electoral Area D! But we will be back with another round as soon as we can! We ask that Residents install signs at the entrypoint at the road; in such a way that they can be seen from a distance in both directions. Whether you would like to frame them in, hang them, or otherwise prop them in a sturdy fashion is up to you! The main number is assigned to the driveway access point; while unit numbers are assigned for multiple homes using the same access point. We encourage you to check outbuildings and gates; especially where gates were closed or you may have had working animals present which didn't take kindly to strangers on their property.

The signs themselves are a service, not a regulation. Where Residents have sufficient signage which reflects their address accurately, we understand that you may want to keep your original signs and character. We ask that you keep your blue reflective sign in case you need it later; as the NCRD does not have plans to replace lost or stolen signs at this time. We also ask that you consider installing them in addition to your original sign; if your sign is hard to see from a distance.

Residents who have concerns about the signage they have received; or who have not yet received signage but want to ensure they have the correct address, should reach out to Planning Staff so that we can confirm. In order to ensure that our civic address system supports timely emergency response, it is inevitable that some addresses must be corrected. Staff are working with data aggregators to assist with addresses which may have required reassignment; and request your patience. In the meantime, if we have confirmed that this address is reassigned, please hold onto your sign for now.

Residents with multiple units on their property; or where multiple people use the same driveway, should also get in touch in order to confirm unit number assignments. Friendly reminder that if your address has a letter in it, you definitely need to check on your address assignment! Addresses to the North and East have Odd Numbers; while Addresses on the South and West side will have Even Numbers. If this is not true for the address you have been using, please expect your address to be reassigned. Residents who have changed the location of their driveway may also expect potential changes to their address; depending upon the margin of error which may affect emergency response, and whether it is consistent with the civic address bylaw.

It is also possible that we have simply made a mistake: so it's important to call us to find out! Where signs need to be changed; Staff will work with Residents to locate the error and find a solution to trade it for the correct sign. Please do not discard or drop off your signs with anyone without contacting Planning Staff to make a plan with you to trade signs!
