PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN AS FOLLOWS:

NOTICE OF NOMINATION

Nominations for the offices of:

Director Electoral Area “A” – 1 person to be elected
Director Electoral Area “C” – 1 person to be elected
Director Electoral Area “D” – 1 person to be elected
Director Electoral Area “E” – 1 person to be elected

will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person, as follows:

Originals of faxed or emailed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:00 p.m. on September 16, 2022.

Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations including nomination forms at the North Coast Regional District Office beginning at 9:00 am on August 30, 2022, as well as the following locations:

•    North Coast Regional District Office; 14-342 3rd Avenue West
•    Village of Masset Office; 1686 Main Street
•    Village of Port Clements Office; 36 Cedar Ave West
•    Village of Daajing Giids; 903A Oceanview Drive
•    Sandspit Community Office; 1-343 Alliford Bay Rd (August 31)

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

•    Canadian citizen;
•    18 years of age or older on general voting day on October 15, 2022;
•    resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
•    not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or  being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 general local election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:
Director Electoral Area “A”    [$5,398.92]
Director Electoral Area “C”    [$5,398.92]
Director Electoral Area “D”    [$5,398.92]
Director Electoral Area “E”    [$5,398.92]
    
THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 general local elections, the following third party advertising limits apply: $809.84
